Wilderness Trail Cask Strength Rye

Another excellent release from newcomers Wilderness Trail, who produce their fine whiskies out of Danville distillery, Kentucky. This single barrel, barrel proof Rye is made using a blend of 56% rye, 33% corn and 11% malted barley. The nose is fruity and lifted with notes of citrus peel playing harmoniously with notes of vanilla and sweet pastry from the oak barrels. The palate is savoury and dry at first leading to a touch of sweet orange, dark chocolate and clove before a smooth finish with yet more citrus and a touch of fresh oak shavings.
